What is Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive sweating in the palms, underarms, feet, and face. Hyperhidrosis or excessive perspiration can be uncomfortable and cause social anxiety, affecting 1 in 25 people. Excessive perspiration can ruin clothing, irritate skin, and heighten anxious moments.

A primary method for the reduction of excessive perspiration is Botox.

How it Works

Botox works on sweat glands (eccrine gland) by blocking nerve activity that promotes sweat production.

After clinical evaluation, cleaning, and numbing the treatment area, a dye is applied to determine the location of excessive perspiration for Botox applications.

Patients then receive numerous injections spaced 1 cm apart in the treatment area with Botox.

What to Expect

The procedure takes 30 minutes without downtime and minimal discomfort.

Results are noticed within the first-week post-treatment, and the effect can last from 6-12 months in duration.

Treatment for hyperhidrosis typically does not use enough Botox to affect muscle motion. Occasionally, slight weakness results that resolve in several days.
