What is IPL Photofacial?

IPL photofacial is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation technique that relies on the restorative properties of intense pulsed light (IPL) energy. During this treatment, highly calibrated wavelengths of light energy are delivered into the skin tissues to address numerous skin problems, such as pigmentation problems, vascular lesions, and more. Each wavelength of light energy targets different skin concerns, so it can be customized according to each patient’s unique needs and goals.

IPL Photofacial Corrects:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Brown spots and age spots
  • Sun damage and sunspots
  • Vascular lesions
  • Rosacea

How it Works

Different skin conditions — vascular lesions, pigmentation problems, brown spots, sun spots, freckles, etc. — respond to different wavelengths of light energy. Depending on your unique skin conditions, we deliver the appropriate wavelengths of light to remove the unwanted pigments and skin conditions, restoring clearer skin.

Skin laxity occurs as you grow older because of the gradual loss of collagen, a fibrous protein that makes your skin look firm, taut, and youthful. Certain wavelengths of light energy go deep into the dermal layers to trigger natural collagen production, reverse the signs of aging, and help you achieve firm, tight skin.

Benefits of IPL Photofacial:

  • Non-surgical and non-invasive treatment
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Customized according to your unique needs
  • Concludes within 30 minutes
  • No downtime or recovery period

Your IPL Photofacial Journey

Procedure

IPL photofacial is performed as a simple, in-office treatment. Our medical providers calibrate the Venus Versa IPL device according to your unique needs to ensure optimal results. Finally, the IPL device is moved on the treatment areas to deliver the appropriate wavelengths of light energy. The entire treatment should conclude within 30 minutes.

Frequency

Most patients need multiple IPL photofacial sessions for optimal results, but the specific number of treatments depends on your goals and skin conditions. Most patients need 3 to 7 IPL photofacial treatments. The treatments are usually spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.

Recovery

IPL photofacial doesn’t involve any downtime or recovery period. Your skin will look flushed and red after the treatment, like a mild sunburn, for a few hours. You may also experience mild redness, swelling, and flaking for a few days.

Results

The results of IPL photofacial appear gradually over several days for weeks, depending on your existing skin condition and goals. If you opt for skin resurfacing for freckles and pigmentation problems, the spots should darken and flake off within a few days.
