Why Buffalo Aesthetics
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling stimulates the body’s natural healing process and promotes skin rejuvenation. This procedure utilizes a pen-shaped probe with several tiny needles that create micropunctures to the skin. This controlled skin injury promotes blood flow that develops new collagen and elastin responsible for tighter younger-looking skin.
Advantages of microneedling allow it to be useful in areas of skin not suitable for chemical peels and laser. Most importantly all skin types can be treated with minimal downtime.
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Smiles lines and frown lines
- Sunspots, age spots, sun damaged skin
- Acne Scars
- Stretch Marks and Skin Firming
- Reduction in pore size
How it Works
Microneedling is performed using an automated pen similar to the size of a thick marker. The end that is placed on the skin has 8-16 microneedles. The pen is placed on the skin and glided across treatment areas. The microneedles oscillate in and out poking the region. The microneedle depth of penetration and speed can be varied based on desired results, treatment area, and skin sensitivity.
A pretreatment topical skin numbing agent will be applied to dull the pricking sensation. Post-treatment, a topical skin rejuvenating cream is placed to further hasten collagen production and the healing process.
What to Expect
The treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Generally, clients experience a minimal pricking discomfort that is dulled with the numbing cream. You may have redness to the area, however, the body immediately begins the process of healing. The greatest redness is post-treatment that slowly dissipates over 48 hours. As the skin exfoliates, you will notice dry skin flaking off.
Treatments should be spread out at intervals of 3-6 weeks. The service is ideally paired with chemical peels or laser resurfacing. For best results, 4-6 treatments are recommended.
