Preparation & Expectations for Botox/Dysport and Filler Appointments

  • Confirm your appointment time prior to arrival via the automated texting system.
  • Expect a 20 minute appointment for Botox/Dysport and 30-60 minutes for fillers.
  • Arrive to appointment 5 minutes early; text (716)-422-7727 to let us know when you arrive; wait in your car until you are advised to enter. When advised, enter the building wearing a mask, please (this is required as this is a medical office).
  • Avoid alcohol and other blood thinning products (e.g. naproxen, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils) for at least 48 hours before and after your appointment (unless these are prescribed by a healthcare provider for medical condition).
  • For filler appointments, anticipate mild to moderate bruising that generally clears within 7 days, but may last longer. Tip: bruising is generally more pronounced with lip fillers.
  • Rules after having Botox/Dysport injected: no laying down for 4 hours, nothing tight around the area for 4 hours (like a hat or a headband), no exercising for at least 24 hours.
  • Rules after having dermal fillers placed: Do not massage the areas, gently apply ice and use Tylenol for pain relief, avoid strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours, avoid prolonged sun explosure for 48 hours, sleep with head elevated to reduce swelling, and use arnica tablets/cream as directed to reduce bruising and swelling.
  • For first time clients with Dysport/Botox and dermal fillers, expect a 2 week follow up appointment to assess treatment outcome.
  • For dermal fillers, expect results to last anywhere from 6-18 months.
  • For Botox/Dysport, expect results to last anywhere from 3-6 months. Generally, Botox/Dysport injections need to be done at least 3-4 times per year to maintain consistency and get optimal wrinkle prevention and treatment.
